City of London Police

Policing

Project Griffin is an initiative by the City of London Police to encourage members of the community to work in partnership with the police to deter and detect terrorist activity and crime.

Based on the theme of ‘communities’, a website was created to strengthen the identity and credentials of the project by broadening awareness and knowledge of its remit, who it’s for, how to participate, and how it works.

An interactive map was created for the site, showing the police forces participating in the initiative and relevant contact details.

During the course of the project a new identity was also created for the scheme. The existing mark utilised the dragon emblem from the traditional City of London coat of arms, which we reasoned was inappropriate for an initiative entitled ‘Project Griffin’. The emblem was redrawn as a griffin (body of a lion, head and wings of an eagle) and the emphasis reduced on the word ‘Project’.
